Leadership

Diversity of thought, experience, and expertise

It’s my job to build a team that is diverse – not just from a numbers perspective to satisfy D&I requirements, but from a lived experience. We can’t build tools for a better, more inclusive world, without an inclusive team.

High bar of quality

The teams design and build the work, but it lies on my shoulders to make sure that our products hit a bar of quality that inspires. I ensure that our products are design-driven. This means our products align with our users’ expectations, are aesthetic, and feel polished to the nth degree.

Creating space

I help set priorities and external expectations so that my teams have the space to do their best work. This often means working as a heat shield to protect the team from common distractions that happen in any organization.

Everyone contributes

There’s the role everyone is hired into, then there is the responsibility to build the team culture. This may include documenting offsites, organizing team events, or designing and delivering team apparel. I make sure that everyone contributes.

Embrace remote work

Some of the best talent in the world has realized they don’t need to be in large, expensive city centers. We embrace remote work and experiment with processes to do the best design work possible.

Spend time together

I make sure the team gets together on a regular basis, learns from each other, and has fun. This fills our creative tanks and creates trust between members of the team, which leads to better designed products.
